Happy International Women's Day!
As I reflected this morning on the significance and importance of International Women's Day, I am reminded and humbled by all of the amazing women who have paved way for all of us. So many brave and bold women who use their light to make this world a better place. I was blessed to grow up under the watchful eye of one of those brave women who I call mom.
Without the passion and determination of the women in generations before me, I would not have had the opportunity to become a President of a internationally recognized brand such as Caribou Coffee. It also would not have been so easy to follow my passions into entrepreneurship with Neat Little Nest.
For the trailblazers, the dreamers, the care-takers and all of the women who've move mountains, I am grateful. I am also deeply grateful for the men who have mentored me, stood with me and helped me achieve my dreams through their support and unlocking doors for which I did not have the key.
I share this picture of an organized space in my bathroom as the "mostly hers" label struck me given the importance of this day. I made the label mostly as a joke to my husband, but looking at it today I realize that it does in someways reflect where we stand now.
As women ... we mostly have equity, we mostly have a voice, we mostly have our rights protected, but we are not quite all the way there.
We should continue to celebrate and be proud of the progress we've made, but we also need to be reminded that we are not finished yet. We all have a part and no part is less important than another.
Be brave sweet women and boldly go forth in continuing to pave the way for our daughters, granddaughters, neices, grandneices and beyond!
