My neighbor Jaime was talking to me about her kitchen organization challenges and I agreed to partner with her to tackle the space. Like many of the people I talked to who are struggling with clutter, Jaime wanted the space to be nice and organized, but didn't know where to start. That's where I came in!

Like most organizational challenges, you usually find the challenge in one space spills over into a challenge in another (and so on and so on). That's exactly what we found when tackling Jaime's pantry. She had four big challenges shown below:

In this post, I will be sharing the transformation we made to pantry #1.

Below are the organizational goals Jaime wanted to achieve in the space:

Below is the "after" picture for pantry #1. I love the way it turned out, but the most important thing is that Jaime loved it and it has been functioning well!!

JoAnn's had the last one on backorder, but it will be fixed as soon as it's in. : )

The backdrop for the space was a beautiful grey and white chevron. It was made from using an adhesive shelf liner from Macbeth collection found on Amazon. I love the Macbeth collection liners and have used them a few times in my own house. You can check out some additional project where they have been used: in my bathroomlinen closet and my jewelry drawers.

For the kids lunch and snack items (close up picture below), I used my favorite Akro bins from The Container Store. I love them because they are durable, have a spot for a label, can be used with or without a divider, and do not have a lid. I don't like to use lids in spaces you need to use everyday.

I put the snacks at the height of the bigger kids, but out of reach of the toddler. Jaime has told me that her kids are doing a great job using the system and keeping it in order has been easy because the labels.

For the bulk items, I used a plastic tub bin from The Container Store and filled two shelves. This gives the family plenty of space to put her bulk items nicely tucked away.

The labels were made using a cardboard stock paper cut to size and then placing an adhesive vinyl sticker over the top in bright pink to add a pop of color. You can see a step-by-step tutorial on the label looking at my post on Rainbow looms here.

To add visual interest to the space, I opted for metal baskets to hold the cleaning supplies. I love the way they looked in the space! The labels are made from inexpensive chalkboards from JoAnn's and writing on them with a white Sharpie paint pen.
